Caleb Andrew May

As many of you know, Caleb was born last Thursday at St Johns hospital in St Louis MO. He was 8lbs 5 oz and a whooping 21 1/4 in long. Thus far he has been a very happy baby and April and I are enjoying every minute of him. I've often heard people talking about being a parent and how wonderful it is, I was always curious if I would also feel this way. Now a week later I can say that what people say is true there is nothing better than being a parent. The other thing that people would always talk about is being prepared for no sleep. I can also certainly agree with this as well, I feel for April as she is getting less sleep than me thus far, he has been sleeping fairly well throughout the night, (knock on wood). Bentley has been doing great with the baby, he is somewhat curious and extremely tired, he is used to sleeping about 15 hours a day and the baby has been interrupting that. A couple of things about the delivery, everything went smoothly, we elected to schedule a C section because the baby had not dropped and there was concern that he would be over 9lbs. This was a little strange for me and somewhat uneventful we were able to pack, eat lunch and go to the hospital with little fanfare. The most important thing is that baby and mom are doing well and everything went pretty smoothly. We ended up spending 4 nights in the hospital which was also a little strange, but because the C section was scheduled for late Thursday it was the best thing for April and the baby. We are spending our days hanging out enjoying Caleb, I've become an expert at diaper changing with little practice, I suppose I've taken to it naturally, if you must have a talent I suppose this is as good of one to have as any. I plan to take another week off and April will be out of work until November, I could write more but I will save that for another post.

Any Day now

We are getting very close to the day, although April would say it is farther away then she would like. August 4th is the due date, our plan is to go a week late before being induced, April is convinced we will be having the child on the 11th. Either way we are getting really excited, the day will be here before we know it. As far as the house and having everything we are ready for the little guy to arrive, it almost feels like our lives are on hold at the moment. However it has been some of the busiest times of our lives. April continues to be extremely busy at work and is looking forward to having three months with the baby, we were able to find an in home care baby sitter, we are very excited to have her and think she will be great with our son. I have some exciting news starting Monday I will be the new branch manager at the Fifth st branch of Regions, this is a larger branch and a promotion and I am very excited. We are also considering making the leap and buying a new computer, I know shocking!! Well as we sit here and wait we are hoping that everything will go smoothly with the pregnancy and everyone will be able to meet our son soon. Still not telling the name and I'm proud to say no one has correctly guessed the name, there is a hint if you are keeping track.

Birth class

As the title states we had our first birthing class at St John's Mercy on Wednesday, our instructor was hilarious. When you see a 53 year old woman in the birthing position on the floor making birthing breathing noises it tends to put your world in prespective. It was a great class we learned a lot, our instructor is full of energy and very passionate about giving birth and pregnancy, I expect April and I will get a lot out of the class. The next couple of months are sure to fly by all in all we have 3 baby showers, 2 weddings, 3 graduations, a confirmation, cardinals game, a trip to South Carolina, golf outing and this is just the weekends. The great thing is we get to see all of our family and friends, I am very excited and the baby will be here before we know it.

Kicking and Screaming

Okay, the title sounds bad, but fortunately there hasn't been alot of screaming but there has been some kicking. Last night I felt the baby for the first time, (very cool). It's been awhile since we've written, here's an update, April is doing very well, we've been to the doctor again and everything has checked out well. April's baby bump is getting bigger, she is still doing very well with her weight, she wore a maturity shirt for the first time today, which I think is pretty impressive. Things have been pretty calm around the house, we have been busy with work and getting the babies room completed. I managed to get all the furniture put together, insert jokes here, it hasn't fallen apart yet so that is a plus. Also for those of you who haven't heard April's grandmother passed away a couple of weeks ago, we are sad to see her go. I think we have narrowed down our choices for names unfortunately I can't give any hints. We are looking forward to heading down the home stretch only a few months left, we are starting to look for babysitters if anyone knows someone in the st peters area that is reliable and great with kids please let us know. That's all for now, we will post some pictures soon.

And Baby May Is.....

Well if patience is a virtue then April and I are lacking. Tonight our great friend Katie did us a really nice favor, she pulled a few strings at the hospital where she works and we were able to get an ultrasound done this evening. We haven't said anything until now because we didn't want to jinx it, but without further ado baby may is a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are just thrilled people have asked us if we preferred a boy, honestly we would have been happy with either sex but I think we were leaning towards having a boy. April and I are soo excited to share this we everyone, we have great family and friends and are happy we get to share this with all of you. We will have more information soon.

Sex of Baby May

Well we still do not know...Baby May was in a meditation position today and pretty much had its legs crossed so we were unable to find out the sex. Oh well, there is always next time, we are learning patients. Here is a picture of the baby, you can see its spine really well.
